Aubrey and Gabby

Gabby loves to cuddle and snuggle up close, but this was a first. She has never snuggled so close to Aubrey. I think they're becoming friends, or she was trying to stay warm because it's really cold tonight. Aubrey was petting her and giggling while Gabby rubbed her head on her legs and tried to get Aubrey to pet her some more. After a few minutes, though, Aubrey said, "Mommy, she's stinky." (Gabby has bad breath.) So I asked if she wanted Gabby to move, and she said yes. Then she told me, "Gabby needs to take a bath or a shower or something." Oh well, it was cute while it lasted.

Getting Dressed

We've been officially potty training for a little over 2 weeks now. Aubrey is doing great. She wears her underwear all day, except during her nap and nighttime. With potty training and underwear, comes having to pull her pants up and down by herself and getting dressed all by herself. She's very independent and likes to put everything on by herself - from her shirt to her socks, even when we're running late. She can even put her jacket on by herself. Watch!

A Sunny Valentine's Day

We've had a lot of cold and rainy weather lately, but Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day with temps in the 60's, and the sun even came out! I shot this video of Aubrey having some fun on her trike. She's pretty good on it. Stay tuned for her message at the end!

Sesame Street Live

Yesterday we took Aubrey to see Sesame Street Live. It was a fun show, and she had a great time! She got to see all of her favorite characters, sing songs, and visit all the places your imagination can take you.

Aubrey and Daddy looking at pictures of Cousin Grace while we waited for the show to start.

The funniest part was during intermission, a man came out right in front of the stage to sell Elmo balloons. I think that's why they had an intermission. He had a line the whole time and then the whole arena was filled with balloons. It was quite a sight!

Big Bird's imagination took him to a parade, so they played Mardi Gras music and even sang "When the Saints Go Marching In". I think it's a sign!!

It's a Party in the MIA!

Aubrey's Birthday at School

I'm still a little behind, but this should be my last post from things that happened in 2009. Aubrey celebrated her 2nd birthday at school the Friday before we left for Disney World. Thanks to my new much closer to home job, I was able to go for the celebration and spend some time in her class. We brought juice and muffins for the kids and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Aubrey.

After she finished her snack, she raced around the room to show me all of her different "work". Aubrey goes to a Montessori School, where they emphasize individual work. Each child gets a mat or goes to a station and does their own activity (which they call their work) at their own pace. In Aubrey's class the work consist of lots of matching and sorting work (shapes, colors, the same object in different sizes) and also various activities that helps develop their motor skills (using tongs and spoons to move small objects or threading pipe cleaners through holes). It was so fun to see Aubrey in her school environement. Her teacher referred to her as her "Student Teacher". She always seemed to be listening to what was going on around her as she was doing her own work and assisted Ms. Dixie with correcting the other children in the room. (I wonder where she gets that from...)
