Aubrey is smiling because

A) She's as excited as Mommy that tomorrow is Friday (4 day weeks are great).

B) She's thinking about all of the swimming she's going to do this weekend.

C) Daddy's playing peek-a-boo with her.

D) It's bathtime.

E) All of the above!

Water Baby

Aubrey went in the pool for the first time tonight (yes, that means it is no longer green), and she had a great time. She loves bathtime, so we figured she would enjoy the pool, and we were right. She had fun splashing and kicking her feet. If you look closely at the pictures, you can see water on her face. That's from her splashing, but she never cried or got scared, so I'm sure we'll be spending many more summer days and nights splashing around together!

Highchair Time

At Aubrey's 4-month check-up, the doctor said anytime between 4 and 6 months, we could start feeding Aubrey cereal. By 6 months she should be eating solids as a meal, but these first 2 months, it's been mainly practice to get her used to eating from a spoon. Without a highchair, this has been difficult and short-lived. We tried putting her in her Bumbo chair, but she would fling her head back. Then either Matt and I would hold her and she would wiggle, turn her head, or fling her arms and legs, usually knocking the bowl from our hands and that would be the end of that meal.

This weekend, we bought Aubrey a highchair. It's pretty neat. The seat slides up and down to adjust to different heights, it reclines, it rolls, and it folds up pretty flat. I am starting to see the baby industry as the wedding industry-lots of must-have products that you may not really need or you may not get as much from them as you thought you would, but I think this high chair will be around for the long haul. The box says we should be able to use it until she's 36 months! I think that's longer than any of the current baby products we are using except for her funiture. Here are a few pictures of Aubrey in her new chair. She looks so tiny in it, but she can't fling her head back anymore, and she did much better eating this weekend. Fruits and veggies, here we come!

Let the Babyproofing Begin

Aubrey will be on the move before we know it. For now we are enjoying her limited mobility because we have yet to babyproof our house. She's scooting a little bit, but only with her face pressed against the floor. She also rolls from one end of the blanket to the other and has been scooting backwards this week.

Aubrey's New Friend

We have 2 cats-Gabby and Saban. I got Saban when I first moved to Houston. I'd lived here about a month. Matt came in to visit one weekend, and we went to a shelter and picked her out. She's definitely does her own thing, but she also likes to cuddle and snuggle but only when she wants to. Gabby is my other baby. Matt likes to call her a "hood-rat". I rescued her from Lafreneire Park when I was home for 2 weeks the first time I took the CPA exam. She's like no cat I've ever met. She loves to snuggle, and she will meow until you pet her. I figured she would make friends with Aubrey before Saban did, and I was right. Here's a few pictures from one of their first meetings:

I'm Joining the World of Mommy-Bloggers!

I can't believe Aubrey is going to be 5 months next week. Time is flying by and she's growing and changing every day. I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile. I think this will be an easy way to update family and friends on Aubrey and share pictures. So feel free, to check in as often or as rarely as you like. I will try and update regularly.

Aubrey is almost 5 months and is at a such a fun stage. As her pediatrician put it at her 2-month check-up "Enjoy the next 4 months. It's why people have babies." And it's true-she's happy, smiley, interactive, energectic, curious, grabbing things, rolling. I look forward to leaving work at the end of the day, so I can pick up Aubrey and we can spend the rest of the evening on the floor laughing and playing.

I can only imagine what's to come and am looking forward to every minute. Enjoy!
