Christmas Dance Recital

Aubrey has been enjoying her dance class for the past few months and was very excited to participate in her first dance recital, until it was time to go up and dance. She didn't want to go at first, but joined the group about halfway through.

December Birthdays, Parties, and Dancing!

It's been a busy December and we haven't even gotten to Christmas yet! Aubrey turned 3! We've also had Christmas parties, birthday parties, family visits, and a dance recital. I have a lot of pictures from the past few weeks and couldn't pick my favorites, so here they all are...

School Program

Last week at Aubrey's school, the students put on a Cultural Program to celebrate the teachers' and students' cultural backgrounds. They sang songs with the older class and gave a few presentations. They were allowed to dress in cultural clothing or to dress up. Here is Aubrey's class walking in:

Here is a song about the continents in Spanish:

And here is Jingle Bells (definitely the favorite of the group):

Breakfast With Santa

Where did November go? Aubrey got to see Santa this morning at our neighborhood Breakfast with Santa. She told him what she wanted for Christmas and got a candy cane. She didn't want to sit on his lap, but I think we still got a great picture!

Happy Halloween!

Friday, October 29th - Aubrey got to wear her costume to school. We got a 2nd costume because her Halloween costume is a long dress, and I knew they would be playing outside, and I didn't want it to get ruined before trick-or-treating. So presenting, Minnie Mouse!

Saturday, October 30th - We did trick-or-treating a day early because we attended our friend's annual Halloween party and hayride. I think we were the only ones out in the neighborhood trick-or-treating, so most people seemed surprised to see us, but for the most part they already had their candy and were happy to hand it out. Aubrey was so excited for Halloween, and she definitely got it this year. She talked about it all day, and I had told her we could go trick-or-treating once it was dark, so as soon as the sun went down, she started asking when was it time to go. I don't think I've ever seen her so excited then when we were on the hayride going from house to house. As soon as she would get back to the trailer, she would shout "I got candy!". So, presenting Snow White!

Since Les Miles had the night off, he came, too!

Even Cooper even got to take part in the action this year!

All lit up and ready to go trick-or-treating!

Sunday, October 31st - Since Saturday night was so exhausting, we slept in, went to church late, ate lunch, and took a long nap. Then we decorated a haunted gingerbread house, carved the pumpkin, and Aubrey put on her costume to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. What a fun weekend we had!

She did some tasting while decorating!

Birthday Party and Pumpkin Patch

We had a busy and fun weekend. On Saturday, Aubrey attended the birthday party of her friend, Ashley. It was at a big bouncy place with lots of spacewalks to jump and climb and slide in.

On Sunday, we made a trip to the Pumpkin Patch where we picked up a pumpkin, rode the train, and had a snowball. (It definitely doesn't feel like fall here, though!) Aubrey even got to take a picture with a giant spider!

The weekend was also exciting because we finally told Aubrey that she's going to be a big sister. She was excited for our news and can't wait for her baby brother, Cooper, to arrive, so she can teach him how to do all sorts of things. She even told me she would help change his diapers! (And as a side note, Aubrey is officially out of diapers! Just in time, right?! She's been potty trained and wearing underwear during the day since February, but still wore a diaper a night. Lately, we've been having more and more dry diapers in the morning and last week she went the whole week with dry diapers in the morning. So starting Sunday night, we let her wear her underwear to bed, and we've had two successful nights!)

Happy Feet!

Aubrey's school offers dance classes, and she is finally old enough to join! I remember picking her up from school on the afternoons the dance class was going on when she was a little younger, and she would always want to stop and watch. It's convenient because it's during her school day, so we are not trying to attend a class on the weekend or in the evenings, and she's so young, this is just a fun introduction and gives her a break from her school day once a week. Dance class is on Wednesdays, which is also pizza day, so Wednesday is "A great day!" as Aubrey says.

She gets to take ballet and tap. So, a few weeks ago I took her to the store to buy her shoes. She tried on the ballet shoes, which she was excited to wear because June from the Little Einsteins is a ballet dancer. Then she told me she did not want the tap shoes when she tried them on. I told her to wait until she got home and could try them out to see because she just might like them. She definitely likes them!

Today was her 3rd dance class. I had a meeting downtown for work, which is very unusual for me since my office is now close to home, and downtown is pretty far from my office. Once the meeting was over, my boss said I could head home for the day instead of returning to my office. I headed straight to pick up Aubrey and got to her school right after her dance class had started! I was so excited that I was able to see her class. I think she's got some moves!

I have a few more videos which I'll try to post later this week.

Aubrey and Mommy's Day

Matt went to Dallas for the day for his fantasy football draft, so Aubrey and I planned a fun-filled day together. It started off not so fun because I had to go to work to do some stuff that needed to be done to our databases when no one else was working in them. Aubrey was excited to visit my office again. She colored with my pens and then watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Thank goodness for portable DVD players!

Then we went and had lunch together. I told Aubrey we could sit outside at lunch because it felt nice outside when we got to the office, but when we left at lunchtime, it was much warmer outside. I told her as we were walking to the restaurant that it was pretty hot and we should eat inside. Her response was "It will feel better over there under the shade", and she was right! She's a pretty smart kid.

Then we went home for nap time. After nap time, we headed to the mall for some shoe shopping. She needed new shoes for school. We were able to find a pair for school and a pair for fun. That's what happens when we go the mall without Daddy!

After getting home from the mall, we ate dinner and watched Cinderella together. Aubrey sat and watched the whole movie. We had a great day together.

Matt and Aubrey went to Pump it Up on Friday. She had a blast!

Ride 'Em Cowgirl!

It was pony picture day at Aubrey's school a few weeks ago. That night after taking pictures, I got to hear all about the ponies (there was a white one and a brown one), who in her class sat on which horse, and which kids cried and didn't want to sit on the horse.
She's very observant right now and doesn't miss anything that is said around her. I normally hear lots of details of the things that happen in her classroom, who cried and why, who used the potty and who had accidents that day, and other things about her day. I'm sure her teachers get an earful of what goes on at home, as well. When Matt picked her up from school one day last week, the teacher asked if we had gotten new windows in our house. Matt told her we had, and she said Aubrey had been telling her all about her new windows.

Easter Weekend

We had such a fun and busy Easter weekend. It started on Thursday with Aubrey's Easter egg hunt at school, included a visit from Nana and Pops and the Easter Bunny, and ended with a trip to the park to see the bluebonnets. Here's some of our fun!
