Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Aubrey had a better idea of what was going on this year and eagerly counted down the days until Santa's arrival.

On Christmas Eve day, we went to the Audubon Zoo and discovered a great secret. If the weather is cooperating, this is the best day to go to the zoo. There were no crowds, no lines. We made it around the entire zoo, and Aubrey had blast leading the way!

All dressed up on Christmas Eve.

It was definitely a Disney princess Christmas for Aubrey. If you ask her what Santa brought her, the two items she tells everyone are a suitcase and an umbrella.

The rest of Christmas was spent being silly with Grace and opening lots of presents. The two of them together means lots of laughing and chasing!

We even got a visit from our friend, Peyton, who was visiting his grandparents and families from North Carolina.

Aubrey does letter work almost everyday at school. She learns the sounds and then practices writing the letters that she's working on. She used to be able to recognize one or two letters in a word. So if she was looking at a sign or one of Matt's t-shirts, she would say, "There's an S" or "There's an A". Now she can identify almost every letter on Matt's t-shirts that he wears to school each day(Klein ISD Football, for example). A few weeks ago she brought home a letter sheet that said "cat", "hat", and "mat". I asked her if she could sound out the words for me, and she did! Here's she is this morning before school, showing me how to sound out "cat".

Hopefully as this project goes on, she'll become less aware of the camera.

Christmas Dance Recital

Aubrey has been enjoying her dance class for the past few months and was very excited to participate in her first dance recital, until it was time to go up and dance. She didn't want to go at first, but joined the group about halfway through.

December Birthdays, Parties, and Dancing!

It's been a busy December and we haven't even gotten to Christmas yet! Aubrey turned 3! We've also had Christmas parties, birthday parties, family visits, and a dance recital. I have a lot of pictures from the past few weeks and couldn't pick my favorites, so here they all are...

School Program

Last week at Aubrey's school, the students put on a Cultural Program to celebrate the teachers' and students' cultural backgrounds. They sang songs with the older class and gave a few presentations. They were allowed to dress in cultural clothing or to dress up. Here is Aubrey's class walking in:

Here is a song about the continents in Spanish:

And here is Jingle Bells (definitely the favorite of the group):

Breakfast With Santa

Where did November go? Aubrey got to see Santa this morning at our neighborhood Breakfast with Santa. She told him what she wanted for Christmas and got a candy cane. She didn't want to sit on his lap, but I think we still got a great picture!
